LOS ANGELES — Chingy's just getting his "Holidae In" party started, but when he checks out, the charming rapper plans to win over an even wider audience.
"It's gonna go all the way over," Chingy said of "One Call Away," his third single from Jackpot. "It's real crossover mainstream, but it's still hip-hop, so it's gonna do real good."
Jason Weaver, who played a young Michael Jackson in "The Jacksons: An American Dream" miniseries and sang Simba's songs in the "The Lion King," guests on the mid-tempo tune, crooning the chorus, "You call if you wanna bump over me/ I'm only one call away."
"It shows a more sensitive side of me towards the ladies," Chingy said. "[It's me] expressing my feelings about trying to get with a young woman, telling her she can roll with me, I'm one call away."
Chingy hasn't considered video plans for the song yet, since "Holidae In" just surfaced (see [article id="1475212"]"Chingy, Luda Battle Daisy Duke-Clad Ladies; Snoop Sips Drink At 'Holidae In' "[/article]). The rapper does have plans to continue crossing into other genres, though. He's done collaborations with the R&B trio Blaque and a new group Jermaine Dupri is developing called Heat, plus he's fielding offers from other artists.
Plans are also under way for a Disturbing Tha Peace tour featuring the group of the same name, Ludacris and Chingy, whose "Right Thurr" is the #2 song on Billboard's Hot 100.
"I'm excited about it, but you know me, man. I'm a real quiet, humble person," he said of his success. "I don't get too overexcited about things, but I don't take nothing for granted."
