The 411: Nicknamed "The Jersey Slugger," DJ Omega is only 19 years old and already has the juice. The teen has had a record-spinning slot on Philadelphia's 103.9 (The Beat) for two years, and he enlisted one of the biggest of the big dogs, Def Jam President Kevin Liles, to host his new mixtape.
However, while Liles gives shout-outs and promotes his label's ventures, the main stars on Bigger Business are the up-and-coming breed of MCs from Philly such as Freeway's older cousin Indy 500, Ben Frank and YHM.
Peedi Crakk calls live from the D-Block of federal prison in Philadelphia, where he was previously held on a gun charge. Crakk laments about waiting in non-air-conditioned facility while his $100,000 bail is posted. State Property's newest recruit does, however, make the most of his idle time with a freestyle.
"No misdemeanors, two felonies," he raps. "DA calls me a menace, P.O. ain't helping me/ Pull me from the house to the streets/ P.O. stressing to meet Pete."
Later on in the CD, Ness from Bad Boy's Da Band drops his own freestyle over the beat from Fabolous' "Can't Let You Go" remix. The fighting line-thrower compares himself to "the Godfather and Scarface rolled in one."
Omega's mixtape isn't the only outlet for Ness this week. His label returns to the scene with Bad Boy Reloaded, which is joint effort by Diddy's company and DJs Big Mike and Dirty Harry. Besides Harry's special remixes of Notorious B.I.G. records like "Victory" and "Young G's," plenty of new music is featured. Carl Thomas has a track called "But Me," and Black Rob trumpets belligerence on "War."
