Big Daddy Kane said it, and others like Jay-Z, Snoop Dogg and the Archbishop Don "Magic" Juan can attest: Pimpin' ain't easy.
Being a gold-fronted iced-out gentleman of leisure requires essential vitamins if you want to keep your pimp hand strong. With that in mind, Nelly's Pimp Juice energy drink is long overdue.
The elixir, which takes its name from Nelly's single of the same name, is made with 10 percent apple juice and, like similar beverages on the market, contains the amino acid taurine and the natural stimulant guarana. The bright green Pimp Juice, however, is also fortified with vitamin C, vitamin B, vitamin B12, riboflavin, niacin, and pantothenic acid — purportedly enough nutrients to keep you strutting tall when all the other macks have called it a night.
It should also be noted that Nelly's Pimp Juice "mixes perfectly with numerous vodkas," according to a statement released by the rapper's Team Lunatics company.
Pimp Juice, packaged in a sleek gold and silver 8.4 ounce can, is due on store shelves next month. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Nelly's 4Sho4Kids, a nonprofit organization that awards college scholarships.
Nelly's foray into the energy-drink market follows similar moves made by Ice-T, whose Liquid Ice surfaced earlier this month, and Russell Simmons, who unveiled his Def Con 3 energy soda at a beverage convention last month.
The move also builds upon Nelly's empire, which includes the Vokal men's clothing line, the Apple Bottoms women's line, the label Derrty Entertainment and his part ownership of a NASCAR team.
