'2 Fast 2 Furious' Whoops 'Nemo' At The Box Office

'Furious' takes in $52.1 million over the weekend.

Paul Walker is faster and more furious this time around, at least with his race to the top of the box-office heap.

"2 Fast 2 Furious" earned $52.1 million over the weekend, topping "The Fast and the Furious" by $12 million in its opening weekend two years ago. As expected, about 75 percent of the film's audience was under age 25, according to studio polling. (Click for photos from "2 Fast 2 Furious.")

The action flick, which also features Tyrese, Ludacris and Eva Mendes, outpaced the animated "Finding Nemo," which still brought in $45.8 million for a $143.3 million two-week total, according to studio estimates. (Click for photos from "Finding Nemo.")

With "2 Fast 2 Furious" as the only major debut, several of spring's hottest movies continued to draw large audiences, including the #3 movie "Bruce Almighty," which earned $21.7 million for a $170.8 million three-week total.

Rounding out the top 10 over the weekend were "The Italian Job" at #4 with $13.3 million, "The Matrix Reloaded" at #5 with $9.1 million, "Daddy Day Care" at #6 with $4.8 million, "X2: X-Men United" at #7 with $3 million, "Wrong Turn" at #8 with $2.7 million, "The In-Laws" at #9 with $2 million and "Bend It Like Beckham" at #10 with $1 million.
