J. Lo's next father-in-law won't be named "Affleck."
Robert Redford has joined the cast of the Jennifer Lopez flick "An Unfinished Life." Set to begin shooting in April, "An Unfinished Life" will star Lopez as a single mother down on her luck, forced to move in with her estranged father-in-law.
While the last Lopez film to hit theaters was the lightweight romantic comedy "Maid in Manhattan" (see "'Manhattan' Gives J. Lo Newfound Respect For Maids"), "An Unfinished Life" director Lasse Hallström's résumé is packed with heady, critically acclaimed pictures like "The Shipping News," "Chocolat," "The Cider House Rules" and "What's Eating Gilbert Grape?" (see "J. Lo To Work With 'Cider House' Director On Next Film").
A spokesperson for Lopez confirmed that "An Unfinished Life" will be J. Lo's next film project, though she certainly has plenty of other movies on her plate. She recently wrapped shooting on "Jersey Girl," the first Jay and Silent Bob-less flick from Kevin Smith ("Clerks"), in which she stars alongside fiancé Ben Affleck. The pair also recently completed re-shoots for the first movie they made together, the hit man flick "Gigli." Both films are due later this year.
Lopez also has several projects lined up through her Nuyorican production company, most of which she'll co-produce and/or star in. There's the female cop movie "Double or Nothing" (see "J. Lo's Movie Production Company Bets On 'Double Or Nothing'"), the Latin female friendship story "Dirty Girls" (see "Jennifer Lopez Making A 'Dirty' Movie"), the superhero psychiatrist flick "Shrink" (see "'Shrink' Creator Vows No Spandex For J. Lo In Comic Flick") and the latest remake of "Carmen" (see "J. Lo Making Modern Version Of 'Carmen'").
