3 Doors Down Want You ... To Send Troops A Holiday Greeting

Notes from band's Web site will be sent to U.S. soldiers stationed abroad.

3 Doors Down voiced their support for U.S. troops in person when they performed for sailors aboard the U.S.S. George Washington in October. Now the group is giving its fans a chance to speak up, too.

Visitors to the band's Web site can leave a message for the men and women of the armed forces. The notes will be sent to the Navy's Moral, Welfare and Recreation department, the office that made possible 3 Doors Down's tour of the aircraft carriers and military bases in the Mediterranean (see "3 Doors Down To Set Sail With U.S. Navy"). When enough have been compiled, the MWR will forward them to the appropriate ships.

While on that brief tour, 3 Doors Down shot a video for "When I'm Gone," the first single from their second album, Away From the Sun.

"Although you can't be close to your loved ones this holiday season, know that there are people back in the States who are grateful to all of you for what you're doing," wrote Chuck Williams of Augusta, Georgia. "Be strong, be bold, be safe. We love you."

Christine M. of Orlando, Florida, relayed similar sentiments. "Thank you so much for all that you do for our country. You are truly heroes. ... You will be in my thoughts and prayers this holiday season."

A week after the band helps usher in the new year with Creed in Philadelphia, singer Brad Arnold, guitarist Matt Roberts, bassist Todd Harrell, guitarist Chris Henderson and new drummer Daniel Adair will embark on a headlining tour with openers Saliva and Theory of a Deadman. The trek begins January 8 in Atlanta, and confirmed dates run through February 14 in Kansas City, Missouri. Dates are expected to be added through late February or early March.
