Billy Corgan's Post-Pumpkins Project, Zwan, Due In January

Band on tour now, but Mary Star of the Sea drops January 28.

Billy Corgan has said his new band is a departure from Smashing Pumpkins, but the mystical title he's given Zwan's first album suggests he's the same old theologian.

Mary Star of the Sea is due January 28, according to Reprise Records.

The album's first single, the inspirational "Honestly," hit the airwaves late last month and is currently streaming on the band's Web site, along with live footage from Zwan's handful of shows over the past year (see "Billy Corgan's Zwan Happy As Clams At Debut Show").

Along with Corgan, Zwan includes former Pumpkins drummer Jimmy Chamberlin, former A Perfect Circle bassist Paz Lenchantin, former Tortoise guitarist David Pajo and former Chavez guitarist Matt Sweeney (see "Billy Corgan's Zwan To Release Debut Single, Album"). Corgan shares vocal duties with the rest of the band.
