Avril Lavigne Added To VMAs Latin America Lineup
The lineup of performers for the inaugural MTV Video Music Awards Latin America just got a little more "complicated" with the addition of Avril Lavigne and a host of others.
The rambunctious rocker girl joins additional performers Café Tacuba and Diego Torres, as well as Ely Guerra, Javiera Parra, Erica García and Alvaro Henriquez, singer/guitarist from Chilean folk-rockers Los Tres, according to a network spokesperson. They join a list of previously announced performers, including Shakira, System of a Down, Maná, and Carlos Santana with Michelle Branch, who'll offer up "The Game of Love," which is set to appear on Santana's new album, Shaman, due October 22 (see [article id="1457414"]"Michelle Branch Plays Romantic 'Game' With Santana"[/article]).
With recent experience in the practice of presenting awards derived from August's VMAs, "Jackass" personnel Johnny Knoxville, Steve-O, Bam Margera have been newly selected to dole out an honor. The self-destructive trio bolsters a list of presenters that includes Aterciopelados' Andrea Echeverri and Héctor Buitrago, Enrique Bunbury, Fey, Alex Lora, Molotov, Dante Spinetta and Aleks Syntek.
Shakira, Juanes and Diego Torres received the lion's share of nominations with five apiece (see [article id="1457655"]"Shakira, Juanes Lead Nominee Pack For MTV VMAs Latin America"[/article]).
The MTV Video Music Awards Latin America will be broadcast live on MTV Latin America and MTV2 from Miami Beach's Jackie Gleason Theater on October 24 at 9 p.m. ET. A taped reply will air on MTV November 1 at 8 p.m. PT/ET.
Catch all the sizzlin', star-packed VMA action direct from Miami on August 28. MTV News' preshow kicks things off at 6:00 p.m. ET/PT, followed by the big show at 8 p.m.
