Desoto Records, the Washington, D.C., independent label run by former Jawbox bassist Kim Coletta, has announced that it will no longer release new material. A statement on the label's Web site clarified that they are still trying to secure the rights to the two Jawbox albums released on Atlantic Records and that they will continue to keep their back catalog in print, among other projects. ... The Desoto Web site also reported that Burning Airlines, who count Coletta's former Jawbox mate J. Robbins among their ranks, have decided to call it a day as well. According to the statement, singer/songwriter Robbins will continue to compose while furthering his role as a producer, while "[bassist] Mike Harbin has started a new label called Silver Three and [drummer] Pete Moffett has been traveling the globe as the drum tech for Alanis Morrisette." ...
