Former Love And Rockets Singer Daniel Ash Delays Tour After Accident

Outing will now begin March 12 in Salt Lake City.

Daniel Ash, former singer/guitarist in Bauhaus and Love and Rockets, has canceled the first week of his solo tour after he and his band were injured in a car pileup Friday.

Ash’s bass player, Patina Creame, was taken to the hospital in serious condition but is now stable and recovering, a spokesperson for Ash said. Ash and his other bandmates suffered only minor injuries.

The accident occurred when a passing car cut off Ash’s SUV on Interstate 405 south of Los Angeles, the spokesperson said. The car fled after causing the pileup, but was later stopped.

Ash and his band were traveling to their first show in Santa Ana, California. Ash considered canceling the tour entirely, but did not want to disappoint fans who have waited nearly nine years to see him perform in the States, his spokesperson said.

Shows scheduled for this week in San Diego, Santa Barbara, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland, Seattle and Vancouver, British Columbia, will be rescheduled. The tour will now begin March 12 in Salt Lake City.

Ash co-founded goth-rock pioneers Bauhaus in 1978. When singer Peter Murphy left the band in 1983, Ash and remaining members formed Love and Rockets. Bauhaus reunited in 1998 (see “Bauhaus Reform For L.A. Shows, New Compilation Due” ), and Love and Rockets disbanded a year later (see “Love And Rockets To Disband” ).

On his spring tour, Ash is supporting his latest self-titled solo album, released February 5.
