Cake To Play 'Short Skirt' For Larger Audiences

Group pursuing more traditional promotional route, despite video's one-listener-at-a-time approach.

Cake will be hitting the road on Friday — and not to ask passersby what they think of their hit single "Short Skirt/Long Jacket."

The Sacramento, California, quintet will launch a monthlong North American tour in support of its summer release, Comfort Eagle. Things kick off in Portland, Oregon, and end September 21 in Stockton, California.

Following the trek, Cake will head overseas for a European tour that will run from September 29 to October 14, according to a Columbia Records spokesperson.

Comfort Eagle continues the band's seven-year journey through nearly every genre of music, from rock to jazz to Latin (see "Cake Make Music For Themselves, By Themselves On New LP").
