Robbie Williams Does 'Somethin' Stupid' With Nicole Kidman

Pop star, actress come together to sing Frank and Nancy Sinatra's 1967 chart-topper.

If you think a collaboration between eccentric British pop star Robbie Williams and actress Nicole Kidman could only amount to something stupid, you're absolutely right.

The cheeky troubadour and the former Mrs. Tom Cruise hit Capitol Studios' famed Studio B last week to record their version of the duet standard "Somethin' Stupid," according to Williams' U.S. publicist. Written by C. Carson Parks, the karaoke favorite was a #1 hit for Frank and Nancy Sinatra in 1967.

The track is slated to appear on Williams' forthcoming album of swing music covers, Swing When You're Winning, the title of which riffs off the name of his latest LP, last year's Sing When You're Winning. The unorthodox opus is awaiting an international release before the end of the year, while a domestic release date is still pending. If the album does get a Stateside shelf life, the "Somethin' Stupid" single is likely to precede it, the publicist said.

Meanwhile, Williams has racked up three MTV Video Music Awards nominations for his "Rock DJ" clip, which features the former Take That member taking an innocent striptease a little too far by shedding his skin and muscular tissues after removing his clothes failed to impress the ladies. The video for the Sing When You're Winning single is in contention for Best Male Video, Best Special Effects and Breakthrough Video honors.
