Staind Join List Of Performers For Video Music Awards

Band to play 'Fade,' the second single from Break the Cycle.

Staind have been added to the list of performers for the 2001 MTV Video

Music Awards.

The chart-topping rockers will perform "Fade," the second single from the

recently certified triple platinum Break the Cycle (see "Staind

Cranking It Up For Next Single"), according to their publicist.

Staind filmed a video for the song in Los Angeles last week with director

Marcus Raboy (Santana, Sting). "Fade" is expected to hit radio and video

outlets in mid-August.

The Fred Durst-directed video for Break the Cycle's first single,

"It's Been Awhile," is nominated for Best Rock Video at the VMAs.

Having just wrapped up their summer headlining tour, Staind are preparing to

head overseas for eight European festivals. They will return to the U.S. in

the fall for the Family Values Tour (see "Linkin Park To Join STP, Staind

On Family Values").

Meanwhile, Break the Cycle continues to sell exceptionally well. In

the 11 weeks since it was released, the album has remained in the top four

on the Billboard 200 albums chart. "It's Been Awhile" has been #1

on Billboard's Modern Rock singles chart for a record-tying 16 weeks.

Staind join U2, Alicia Keys and 'NSYNC as scheduled performers for the

Video Music Awards on September 6 in New York (see "'NSYNC, Missy

Elliott To Perform At Video Music Awards").
