Busta Rhymes, Deftones, Method Man and Redman, Fear Factory and Keith Murray will light it up with Cypress Hill when the annual Smoke Out festival ventures beyond the San Bernardino Valley for the first time this fall.
Erick Sermon, Suicidal Tendencies, Long Beach Dub Allstars, Kottonmouth Kings, Afroman, house guru Armand Van Helden and DJ Sneak also are set to perform at the home-turf show, as well as at additional Smoke Outs in the San Francisco Bay area and the Jersey Shore, according to executive producer Chang Weisberg. Redman, Murray and Sermon will perform separately but are expected reunite on stage for some Def Squad songs.
More artists will be added, including a surprise act at 4:20 p.m., in keeping with the show's tradition. Last year's surprise was Limp Bizkit (see "Cypress Hill, Limp Bizkit Satisfy Smoke Out Crowd's Musical Munchies").
Smoke Out will hit the P.N.C. Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, New Jersey, on September 29; the G.H. Blockbuster Pavilion in Devore, California, on October 6; and the Oakland (California) Coliseum on October 13. Dates have changed from a tentative itinerary reported earlier (see "Cypress Hill Expand Smoke Out Fest, Ready New Album"). Ticket information will be available within the week on guerillaunion.com.
Cypress Hill also have added a Smoke Out at Kuoloa Ranch in Honolulu, Hawaii, on October 14. At press time, the trio were the only confirmed act for the Hawaii show. A Philadelphia Smoke Out stop is a possibility.
Cypress plan to extend Smoke Out to a full-blown tour next year.
