Benefit Featuring Lauryn Hill, More Canceled

Event aiding earthquake victims called off due to lack of corporate sponsorship.

Lauryn Hill, Marc Anthony and Luther Vandross won't be playing at a benefit for earthquake victims next week, as organizers have canceled it.

In a statement released by a publicist on Monday (July 23), Mickey Shapiro of Aftershock Aid Foundation said that plans for the benefit fell through because the foundation was unable to find the corporate sponsors it needed.

The event, set for July 29 in San Jose, California, was intended to raise funds for earthquake victims in El Salvador and India. Tickets ranged in price from $60 to $1,040 (see "Lauryn Hill, Marc Anthony To Perform At Earthquake Benefit").
