Widespread Panic Take Band On The Road

Athens, Georgia, jam band to release Don't Tell the Band.

Athens, Georgia, jam band Widespread Panic will join the Dave Matthews Band and Macy Gray for May 26-27 shows in Las Vegas. Then they'll take two weeks off before heading back out on the road to promote Don't Tell the Band, the group's first studio offering since 1999's 'Til the Medicine Takes.

Don't Tell the Band, scheduled for June 19 release, features 12 new songs, including a cover of Firehose's "Sometimes" with a guest appearance by Steve Winwood saxophonist Randall Bramblett.

The disc offers an eclectic mix of organic rockers, evocative ballads and even a couple of hard-rock tunes. It was recorded in producer John Keane's studio in Athens and was engineered by Doug Trantow (Tracy Chapman, Limp Bizkit). The record's first pressing will include a second disc recorded live last year at an Athens show.

The Don't Tell the Band tour begins June 13 in San Diego and will wind its way across the country, with stops in most major cities.
