Alanis Bails Out Broadway Play

Morissette keeps friend's musical afloat.

Alanis Morissette on Broadway?

Not quite. But the Canadian singer reportedly ponied up $150,000 to keep the Broadway musical "Jane Eyre" running for an extra week. When Morissette, a friend of the show's composer Paul Gordon, heard the play was set to close Sunday (May 20) after 185 performances at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre, she offered to help out, according to the Associated Press.

"Jane Eyre," based on the 1847 Charlotte Bronte novel, received five Tony Award nominations, including Best Musical. Whether the show will be able to stay open after next week is uncertain, the news service said.
