Yes + Symphony Orchestra = Yessymphonic Tour

British progressive-rock standard bearers to bring symphony orchestra along on summer tour.

For more than 30 years, British progressive-rock standard bearers Yes have sought to meld the intricacy and scope of classical music with contemporary rock 'n' roll oomph.

This summer the group — singer Jon Anderson, bassist Chris Squire, guitarist Steve Howe and drummer Alan White — will push their signature musical equation to its logical conclusion by bringing a symphony orchestra with them on tour, a management representative said.

Following the precedent set by the live albums Yessongs (1973) and Yesshows (1980), the excursion has been dubbed the Yessymphonic tour. An orchestra member will occupy the keyboard seat filled previously by Rick Wakeman and Tony Kaye.

The prog-rockers' only prior performance with an orchestra took place March 23, 1970, at London's Queen Elizabeth Hall.

Yes is finishing overdubs for a new album they are recording with Seal producer Tim Weidner and Emmy-winning composer Larry Groupé. Groupé will also write arrangements for and conduct the touring orchestra. The still-untitled album does not have a release date.
