Train Making U.S. Stops

San Francisco pop-rockers begin tour in support of Drops of Jupiter on April 14.

They won't be meeting Virginia this time around, but Train will hit at least 12 other states on their upcoming tour, which kicks off April 14 in Seattle.

The San Francisco pop-rock quintet are supporting their second album, Drops of Jupiter, which hit stores Tuesday.

The 11-track record was produced by Brendan O'Brien (Rage Against the Machine, Pearl Jam) and features orchestration by Paul Buckmaster (Elton John, David Bowie). Nigel Dick (R.E.M., Matchbox Twenty) directed the video for the first single, "Drops of Jupiter (Tell Me)."

Train — singer Pat Monahan, guitarist Rob Hotchkiss, guitarist Jimmy Stafford, bassist Charlie Colin and drummer Scott Underwood — released their self-titled debut album in February 1998. The band backed the record, which included the hit "Meet Virginia," with nonstop touring, and in March 2000 it was certified platinum.

To promote Drops of Jupiter, Train will join Five for Fighting in Toronto on Saturday as part of Canadian Music Week, a music-industry conference and festival that will also feature performances by Brassy, Idlewild, DJ Spooky, Spineshank and Mudvayne. Train also will play "The Late Late Show With Craig Kilborn" on April 12 and "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno" on June 4.
