Crazy Town Plan Pre-Ozzfest Road Trip

Although muscle-bound vocalist Shifty Shellshock can’t seem to keep a shirt on his back, he’s not having any trouble keeping his band on the road.

With their debut album, The Gift of Game, hovering in the top 20 of the Billboard 200 albums chart some 17 months after its October 1999 release, Shellshock and crew have lined up a headlining tour beginning April 17 in Mesa, Arizona, according to a band spokesperson. Less than a month after that tour wraps up May 19 in Chicago, it’s off to Ozzfest, where the group will perform on the main stage along with headliners Black Sabbath, Marilyn Manson, Slipknot and Papa Roach (see “Crazy Town Join Ozzfest” ).

The Hollywood-based septet will augment its 22-city trek with two newcomers — Stereomud, whose debut album, Perfect Self, is due May 15, and Memphis maulers Saliva, whose second LP, Every Six Seconds, will drop Tuesday.

Crazy Town recently taped a performance in Cancun, Mexico, for MTV’s spring break coverage, where they treated sun-drenched, party-primed vacationers to the new song “Refused,” which may appear on their next album.

Though the platinum The Gift of Game has been one of the hottest rock records of the year, the band says it has already written 10 songs for a forthcoming follow-up (see “Crazy Town Adopt ‘Revolving Door’ Attitude” ).
