John Phillips, the architect of the Mamas and the Papas' sound, will be remembered at a funeral just outside of Palm Springs, California, on Saturday.
The public service will take place at 1 p.m. PT at the Palm Springs Mortuary, according to a representative of the facility. Entombment in the adjoining Palm Springs Mausoleum will immediately follow.
Phillips died of heart failure on Sunday at age 65. He had suffered health problems on and off since 1992, when he underwent a liver transplant.
Phillips, alongside ex-wife Michelle Phillips, Cass Elliott and Denny Doherty as the Mamas and the Papas, had era-defining hits in the mid-1960s with such songs as "Monday, Monday" and "California Dreamin'" (RealAudio excerpt).
