Looks like it'll be a while before the Norwood family can spend quality time around the dinner table.
While the most famous member of the clan, singer/actress Brandy, is getting ready to start work on her third LP, her brother and "Moesha" co-star, Ray J, is slated to release his second, This Ain't a Game, on June 26.
Separating himself from the wholesome image associated with his big sis, the 20-year-old performer is causing a buzz with a steamy scene in the video for his Neptunes-produced single "Wait a Minute." In the clip, Ray makes time with the song's guest star, Lil' Kim, in the back of a club.
"I was, like, co-directing," Ray J joked. "We just had a good time. [Lil' Kim] was real comfortable. She's a real good friend. We wanted to make it so people can really be like, 'Wait a minute.' "
In addition to the Neptunes and DJ Clue, This Ain't a Game the follow-up to 1997's Everything You Want features production from Rodney Jerkins, who supplied the track for the singer's next single, "Keep Your Head Up."
Ray J's next musical project will be getting his independent label, Knock Out Records, off the ground. He hopes to have an album from his first artist, Shortie Mack, out next year.
Until then, Ray will have more than enough on his plate to keep him busy. He and Snoop Dogg have recorded five songs and are "deciding what to do with them," Ray J said, and he has a cameo on a Tupac Shakur double CD coming out later this year. Ray also hosts the syndicated series "The Source Soundlab" in his spare time.
Proving it's all in the Norwood family, Ray J and Brandy's father, Willie Sr., is hoping to drop a gospel album by the summer.
