S Club 7 Members Apologize For Pot Bust

British teen pop stars arrested for marijuana possession.

In a development that seems more rock 'n' roll than teen pop, the three male members of the British group S Club 7 were reportedly arrested on Tuesday for possessing a small amount of marijuana.

Bradley McIntosh, 18, John Lee, 19, and Paul Cattermole, 24, were caught by police with a joint in London's trendy West End, according to Reuters.

"We have been very stupid, we know we've made a mistake and we're very sorry," the three said in a statement on Wednesday.

Pop impresario Simon Fuller, the man behind the Spice Girls, formed S Club 7 -- which also includes Jo O'Meara, Rachel Stevens, Hannah Spearritt and Tina Barrett -- in 1999. The group scored two #1 singles in the U.K., including "Bringing It All Back," which received some commercial success Stateside.

S Club 7 were voted Best British Newcomer at the Brit Awards, the U.K. version of the Grammy Awards, last year, and followed up their debut album, S Club, with last fall's 7.

The group is perhaps best known in the U.S. for its sitcom, carried Stateside by Fox Family Channel. 7 has finally begun to climb the charts in the United States, recently cracking the top 100 on the Billboard 200.

"They rate their fans very highly and they know that they have let a lot of people down," a spokesperson for the band told Reuters "Now they're learning their lesson the hard way."
