Mighty Mighty Bosstones Taking Throwdown On The Road

10-city, 21-show outing will feature variety of opening acts and kick off March 15 in Milwaukee.

The Mighty Mighty Bosstones are gearing up to throw it down on the road.

Building off their annual Hometown Throwdown shows in Boston, the ska sensations are launching the Your Town Throwdown Tour on March 15 in Milwaukee.

The 10-city, 21-show outing will find the Bosstones playing intimate venues with varying regional bands, including Voodoo Glow Skulls, Fenix TX, Mustard Plug and the Blue Meanies. Some bands and dates are still being finalized.

The Bosstones' Hometown Throwdown — a series of five sold-out shows held in Boston during Christmas week — has gone on for seven years, and inspired the album Live From the Middle East.

"The Throwdown has become such a great event in Boston that we wanted to take that excitement on the road," Bosstones singer Dicky Barrett said in a press release. "We love being able to connect with our fans, and there's no better way than to throw down with them."

Last month, the band announced Your Town Throwdown shows on March 16 and 18 at the Cubby Bear in Chicago, but later rescheduled for March 17 and 18 at the larger Metro.

Barrett's husky voice and his seven-piece band's pop compositions are an unusual match, though the Bosstones have been developing a hardcore following since their inception in the early '90s. The Boston band appeared in 1995's "Clueless" and scored a huge hit with "The Impression That I Get," from 1997's Let's Face It.

The Bosstones played on the Vans Warped Tour last summer in support of their seventh album, Pay Attention. The band plans to begin recording its next album this summer, according to an Island Records spokesperson.
