Soul Train Music Awards nominees Jay-Z, Destiny’s Child, Nelly and Carl Thomas — who’s up for three awards — top the list of artists scheduled to perform at the ceremony on Wednesday.
Other performers include Jill Scott, who’s also a triple-nominee, Mystikal, Jagged Edge and Mya, according to the show’s publicist. The 15th annual awards, held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, will air in syndication on March 3.
The show also will feature a tribute to the Isley Brothers, who recorded such R&B classics as “Shout,” “It’s Your Thing” and “Who’s That Lady,” featuring Kelly Price, Sisqó and Gerald Levert. The Isleys, who are working on a new album, will receive the Quincy Jones Award for Outstanding Career Achievement.
Destiny’s Child will be honored with the Sammy Davis Jr. Female Entertainer of the Year award, while Jay-Z will get the Male Entertainer of the Year trophy. Scheduled presenters include Avant, Deborah Cox, Lil’ Bow Wow, Mary Mary and Tamia.
