Eminem Will Perform At Grammys

NARAS says controversial rapper will take stage, but has yet to announce who will host.

Eminem's doing more than just attending the Grammy Awards.

The controversial rapper will be taking the stage to perform at the ceremony, Interscope Records and the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences said. The label had no details about what he'll perform.

Whatever he performs, he'll do it under the protest of the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, the National Organization for Women and other groups planning a "Rally Against Hate" to draw attention to what they call the rapper's "hate-filled lyrics" (see "Gay Activist Group Plans Pre-Grammy Eminem Protest").

Eminem told MTV Europe that he would attend the ceremony "because everyone doesn't want my ass there" (see "Eminem To Appear At Grammy Awards"). He is up for four Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year for The Marshall Mathers LP.

GLAAD had no comment on Eminem's performance at press time.

Less than two weeks before the February 21 telecast, NARAS has still not announced a host for the ceremony. Last year's host was Rosie O'Donnell.
