Boy George To Launch First U.S. DJ Tour

Culture Club singer turned Essential mixer kicks off outing February 14 in Las Vegas.

Boy George will spend Valentine's Day spreading love to a Las Vegas dance floor as he launches his first U.S. DJ tour.

The former Culture Club singer will follow the February 14 show with eight more dates in support of his Essential Mix, the latest in the acclaimed Essential album series that launched in the States with a Fatboy Slim and Paul Oakenfold double album last spring.

The tour concentrates on major markets, including Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago and New York City. Boy George will spin two nights in Boston.

The pop culture icon's Essential Mix, due February 20, follows entries by DJ Icey and DJ Skribble, and focuses on deep and progressive house music. The 18-song collection features tracks by Dark Globe, Kinky Roland and Amanda Ghost.

With Culture Club, Boy George scored several huge hits in the mid-'80s, such as "Karma Chameleon" (RealAudio excerpt) and "Do You Really Want to Hurt Me?" He then resurfaced in 1992 with the title theme of the film "The Crying Game," which reached #15 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.

Boy George last played the U.S. on a Culture Club reunion tour last summer with Human League and Howard Jones.
