Weezer, Black Eyed Peas Added To Warped Tour

Alums of past outings return for another extreme go-round.

Black Eyed Peas and Weezer are the latest groups to be added to this year's Vans Warped Tour, according to a source close to the annual music-meets-extreme-sports excursion.

The eclectic hip-hop trio (and Warped '99 alums) join previously announced headliners Rancid, Pennywise and Less Than Jake on the tour's seventh national jaunt, which gets underway June 22 in Phoenix. As they did last year, Weezer will play a portion of the approximately 40 dates organizers are hoping to schedule for this year's outing.

Other confirmed bands on the bill include H20, FenixTX, Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, the Vandals, Alien Ant Farm, AFI, and New Found Glory (see "Rancid, Pennywise, More Confirmed For Vans Warped Tour").

In addition to the musical offerings, the Vans Warped Tour traditionally features top extreme athletes, and this year shouldn't be any different. Alongside demonstrations by skaters and motocross riders, Incredibly Strange Wrestling, a California-based grappling circuit, will be staging bouts, and the Thrill Seekers Stunt Show will be on hand to teach attendees the finer points of taking a pretend punch or being thrown through a pane of glass.

While the kids are getting down, Mom and Dad can kick back in tamer surroundings: "Reverse Day Care" — new to this year's outing — is perfect for fans who require a ride from elders who don't count moshing and listening to Pennywise among their favorite pastimes.

Tickets for each show will vary, according to the source, but most will be in the $25 range, plus any additional service or parking charges where applicable.
