Celine Dion's break from the biz to focus on family has paid off.
The 32-year-old pop songstress gave birth to a 6-pound, 9-ounce baby boy on Thursday morning in Florida, according to her official spokeswoman. The delivery was three weeks ahead of Dion's reported due date.
Newborn Rene Charles and his mother are currently doing fine, according to the Associated Press. Conceived through in vitro fertilization, baby Rene is the first child for Dion and husband Rene Angelil, whose diagnosis with cancer in 1999 prompted the singer's two-year hiatus (see "Celine Postpones U.S. Dates After Husband's Cancer Diagnosis").
Dion made her pregnancy public last June after having undergone fertility treatments in New York. In December, she revealed that a second embryo was cryogenically frozen at a New York fertility clinic.
The French-Canadian songbird now culturally inseparable from the blockbuster "Titanic" thanks to her belting "My Heart Will Go On" was recently named Favorite Artist - Adult Contemporary at the American Music Awards.
