Rock And Rap Confidential Polling Music Writers

Monthly newsletter with political bent seeks comments on year in music.

Rock and Rap Confidential, a monthly music-and-politics newsletter, is gathering ballots for its third annual music writers' poll, which it says is the largest of its kind.

Last year, 650 writers from 30 countries participated, according to editor Lee Ballinger. Submissions are due Monday and can be sent to rockrap@aol.com. Voters should include their name, address and the publications they write for.

RRC also is interested in any comments about the year in music — particularly if they're about Napster, music censorship or anything else with a political bent, said founder Dave Marsh, former critic for Rolling Stone and Creem, as well as the author of biographies of the Who and Bruce Springsteen and "The Heart of Rock and Soul: The 1,001 Greatest Singles Ever Made."

RRC is a subscription-only newsletter that has offered left-of-center criticism and commentary since 1983.
