"Weird Al" Tapped For Live Kaufman Tribute

After scoring a gold "comeback" album with last year's "Running With Scissors," "Weird Al" Yankovic will head out on the road next month to support the release, his best-selling album since 1988's "Even Worse."

Prior to the tour launch, Yankovic plans to take part in a special tribute to late comedian Andy Kaufman. The comic musician will join Kaufman's former manager, George Shapiro, and "Man On The Moon" screenwriter Larry Karaszewski on January 29 on "The J. Keith van Straaten Show."

Van Straaten hosts the weekly event every Saturday night at the Acme Comedy Theatre in Los Angeles. Even though the program is modeled after "The Tonight Show," it is not televised, only performed in front of a live audience -- a special twist that Yankovic seems to appreciate.

The Kaufman-themed "episode" of "The J. Keith van Straaten Show" is scheduled to begin at 10:30 p.m. (PT), and tickets are available from the Acme Comedy Theater Box Office at (323) 525-0202.
