"Sling Blade's" Thornton Takes On Widespread Panic Video

April 10 [12:00 EST] -- Oscar-winner Billy Bob Thornton will step behind the camera to direct the next video from the Georgia band Widespread Panic.

Thorton, who earned best screenplay honors for his work on "Sling Blade," will bring his talents to the making of the clip for "Aunt Avis," which was co-written by Vic Chestnutt.

The single is the second from Widespread Panic's "Bombs & Butterflies" album.

While getting critical darling Thornton to direct your video seems like an act of fortuitous timing, Billy Bob is a longtime friend of the band, and directed the band's longform video "Live From The Georgia Theater" in 1991.

After shooting the video in Arkansas in mid-April, the band will head out on the H.O.R.D.E. tour this summer with Neil Young, Primus, Morphine, and Big Head Todd and the Monsters.
