Jody Watley Teams With Babyface On New Album

June 4 [10:00 EDT] — Jody Watley is planning to return to record racks this fall with her first new album in two years.

The singer, who broke through in 1987 with the track “Looking for a New Love,” recently turned up on the Babyface track “This is for the Lover in You.” The Babyface/Watley connection will continue on Watley new album, as the Grammy-magnet producer will handle some work for the singer. Bryce Wilson of Groove Theory, and David Morales will also help out on the production side for Watley.

Watley picked up a Best New Artist Grammy for her 1987 eponymous debut, and went on to score hits like “Don’t You Want Me,” “Some Kind of Lover,” “Everything,” and “Real Love.”
