Violent Femmes Get Busy With Two New Albums And Live Concert Special

Post-modern rock pioneers the Violent Femmes will up their visibility in a big way in the coming months with a concert special, a live album, a studio album, and a U.S. tour.

The band stopped by New York City's Sony Studios on Monday to tape an upcoming edition of the VH1 concert series "Hard Rock Live." There's no word yet on an airdate for the episode.

The Femmes' VH1 taping gave fans a taste of what awaits on a live album the band plans to deliver next month. "Viva Wisconsin" highlights the group's swing through its home state in October of last year and carries 20 now-classic alt nuggets such as "Blister In The Sun," "American Music," "Kiss Off," and "Add It Up."

The live album arrives on November 23, and the band plans to deliver a new studio album, "Freak Magnet," in March of next year. The group also plans to tour behind the effort, hitting the road in February for a 40-city outing.
