TLC Kicks Off Tour As T-Boz Prepares To Get Animated

Months after the release of their multi-platinum album, "Fanmail," the ladies of TLC kicked off their first major tour in four years Friday night in Toronto.

The show, which included dancers, hi-tech lighting, and a huge video screen, ran about an hour and a half and showcased a variety of the trio's old and new hits.

Reviews of the show, which was not sold out, were lukewarm. However, if the TLC ladies had a case of opening-night jitters, it was to be expected, as the group's Chilli recently told MTV News.

[article id="1451246"] "I'm nervous, 'cause this is the first time we've ever headlined, and I'm excited, because I've always wanted to headline,"[/article] said Chilli. [article id="1451246"] "I think it's going to work out fine. It's going to be good. I hope that a lot of people come and, word of mouth, more folks will come to the shows in the future. It will be..."[/article]

good thing,"[/article] T-Boz finished. [article id="1451246"]"A good show. A good turn out." [RealVideo][/article]

In other TLC news, T-Boz is about to expand her extracurricular activities even further: she will be releasing a book of poems, "Thoughts," on November 3, and now she's turning her attention to the world of animation.

T-Boz is developing an animated TV show, to be titled "It's A Fly World," which she has been conceptualizing for some time. She is now working on the show with The Jim Henson Company, the team behind "Muppet Babies" and "Sesame Street," and is currently shopping the show to various television networks.

TLC fans needn't worry about T-Boz trading in her microphone for a pencil and eraser, however: she's working with an animator named Tracy Trent, as she recently told the MTV Radio Network.

[Originally], I drew a head with an idea and said [to Trent], 'Now girl, you got to draw the body, I'll tell you everything I need,'"

T-Boz said. "But it's changed from there. It's growing a lot. I worked on it for five years by myself.

No word yet on when "It's A Fly World" might hit small screens, though you can see T-Boz, Chilli and Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes live and in person, along with opening acts K-Ci & JoJo, Destiny's Child, and Ideal, at the following dates on TLC's tour.
