TLC's Left Eye Challenges T-Boz, Chili To Solo Album Showdown

Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes has sent a letter to the editors of "Entertainment Weekly" in response to a recent report on the status of TLC published in the mag's November 5th issue.

In the article, TLC's T-Boz and Chilli spoke out against Lopes, saying "she doesn't respect the whole group" and "Left Eye is only concerned with Left Eye." Lopes also asserted in the article that she never wanted to tour, and that she didn't show up for a recent MTV appearance as a form of protest.

In Lopes' letter (running in the magazine's 11/28 issue) Left Eye writes, "I challenge Tionne 'Player' Watkins (T-Boz) and Rozonda 'Hater' Thomas (Chilli) to an album entitled The Challenge," writes Lopes, "a 3-CD set that contains three solo albums. Each (album) ... will be due to the record label by October 1, 2000."

"I also challenge [producer] Dallas 'The Manipulator' Austin," her letter continues, "to produce all of the material and do it at a fraction of his normal rate. As I think

about it, I'm sure LaFace would not mind throwing in a $1.5 million dollar prize for the winner."

Representatives for TLC's LaFace Records label had not responded to inquiries from MTV News about Left Eye's challenge by press time.
