After telling "Mademoiselle" magazine that she'll be through with TLC after her two-year-old son Tron reaches kindergarten, Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas has clarified her stance while declaring that she is not leaving the group.
Chilli is quoted in the July issue of "Mademoiselle" as saying, "When he gets to kindergarten, I'm through. That's just the way it's going to be."
But on Monday, after other press outlets picked up the item, Chilli explained the comment further and said that she will "always" be a part of TLC.
"In order to clarify the quote in 'Mademoiselle,' I would first like to say that I love TLC and I will always be with TLC," Chilli said in a statement released to MTV News on Monday. "What I stated to the 'Mademoiselle' reporter is that when my son Tron reaches kindergarten, I will no longer continue with the 24-hour-a-day, 7-day-a-week schedule. This in no way means I'm leaving TLC."
Rumors about a TLC breakup have dogged the
trio for years, and the group's Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes is currently working on a solo album (see "TLC's Left Eye Looks Forward To Solo Project").
The group's third member, Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins, is busy as well, planning her August 19 wedding to rapper Mack 10 (see "TLC's T-Boz, Mack 10 Set Wedding Date"). T-Boz is also in the midst of a pregnancy, which she notes seems to be going well so far.
"Actually, I've had a pretty good pregnancy," Watkins told MTV News. "Sometimes you pick up things that you didn't have before, like my allergies are worse, [I have] sinus problems, but I didn't have any morning sickness, thank God. I heard that was awful. But I'm having a pretty easy pregnancy besides just stretching and aching." [RealVideo]
Watkins and Mack 10 expect their child
to arrive in the fall.
