TapRoot Preps Video, Album Release

With their major label debut hitting stores next week, Michigan hard rock up-and-comers TapRoot are planning to pump the release with a video as well as a full tour schedule.

As we previously reported, the Ann Arbor band stirred up a whirlwind of record label interest (including calls from Fred Durst and Puff Daddy) before signing on with Atlantic Records' new imprint Velvet Hammer (see "TapRoot Finishing Up Debut As Tour Looms").

Now TapRoot's Ulrich Wild-produced debut "Gift" is slated to hit stores on Tuesday, June 27, and Atlantic says that the band plans to hook up with director Shaun Foster next week to shoot its first video. Foster and TapRoot will shoot a clip for "Again And Again," and Atlantic promises a performance-heavy video.

The band will take its debut directly to the people this summer with a prime slot on Ozzfest 2000's second stage, as well as shows on the tour's off-dates with Static-X.

"I know there's going to be some challenges having that as your life," TapRoot drummer Jarrod Montague told MTV News in anticipation of the tour. "Me and [guitarist] Mike [DeWolfe] were talking the other night, and I can remember going to get a ticket for a Metallica show two months before they were going to come, and that's all I looked forward to for two months. And when you get to that show, you're so excited to be there. I think it's going to be a challenge to try to keep that in mind.

"Hopefully we'll have fans that will be that dedicated to us," Montague continued. "I think it's going to be a challenge trying to remember [at] every show that there is some kid out there that has been waiting to see you for who knows how long, and you just have to give everything that you've got. That will be fun."

TapRoot has yet to firm up its dates with Static-X, but Ozzfest 2000 is locked in and ready to roll beginning July 2. Here's how the tour shapes up:
