British pop sensation Robbie Williams took home an extra special souvenir from his recent trip to the annual South By South West conference… a nasty flu.
Stateside spokespeople for Williams told MTV News that the singer contracted the bug at Austin, Texas' SXSW get together last week, and fell ill just before a show in Stockholm, Sweden. The singer made it through soundcheck, but while his opening act performed, Williams' condition worsened while he waited in his dressing room and he was forced to call off the show.
The singer was then flown to London where he met with his doctor, and he is currently resting at home.
The illness has forced Robbie to cancel the remainder of his European tour, including dates in Denmark, France, and Germany. Williams is expected to soon resume his European tour, which is slated to roll through Germany over the next week. He is expected to reschedule the dates.
Williams will try to have better luck in the States when his
"The Ego Has Landed" album arrives in May. The singer hopes to mount a U.S. tour near the time of the album's release.
You can check out more from Robbie and revisit his boy band roots (as well as those of Ricky Martin, Joey McIntyre, and Jordan Knight) in an MTV News Online feature that will turn up here on Friday.
