Robbie Williams Gets Angelic For New Video, Tour

Robbie Williams is currently drawing raves for his over-the-top, Kiss-inspired video for "Let Me Entertain You," a clip he originally shot two years ago, but which is just beginning to receive airplay here in the United States.

Despite the painted-up posturing of "Let Me Entertain You," fans can expect to see a slightly more solemn side of the singer in his new video for "Angels," [RealAudio] which he recently shot on location in Los Angeles with director Sam Bayer.

According to his publicists, the storyline for the new video finds an insomniac Williams ascending to the top of his tenement building via a fire escape and serenading the city -- a surreal combination of London, New York, and Tim Burton's vision of Gotham City -- with "Angels."

As Williams' voice sifts out across the cityscape, various passersby in different, unrelated tableaus begin to hear the song

and react to

its "uplifting" message. The single version for "Angels" will be released to radio on September 6, and the video is expected to premiere a few weeks later.

The new single and video will serve as a precursor to Williams' fall tour of North America, slated to launch on October 12 in Boston.
