Stone Temple Pilots Nix Best-Of Album, Talk RHCP Tour

Looks like the Stone Temple Pilots won't be giving birth to their planned "Big Bang Babies" greatest hits compilation after all.

As part of the band's move to a new management company, Q-Prime, STP has decided to hold off releasing the best-of album, which was to feature several new studio tracks and was tentatively set for release in October (see "STP's Weiland Talks 'Greatest Hits' LP, Limp Bizkit").

According to a publicist for the group, the Stone Temple Pilots severed ties with their former reps, Steve Stewart Management, earlier this week and signed on with Q-Prime, which also handles such artists as Metallica and Red Hot Chili Peppers, the latter of which STP is currently touring with.

STP has been drawing rave reviews for its recent live shows, praise which band frontman Scott Weiland says is due to the rejuvenated passion each bandmember is bringing to the stage since his release from a rehab center

in January (see "Weiland Tastes Freedom While STP Drops 'Heaven And Hot Rods'")

"The reason why we're being so well-received by the fans and by the critics is the attitude we have when we go out onstage every night," Weiland told MTV News. "Basically, we all have the same mind-set, that we are going to perform like it's the last night of our lives.

"If we don't sweat out 95 percent of all of our body water and walk off the stage without bruises, bumps, cuts, and blood, then we haven't put on the show that we know we can perform."
