Dusty Springfield Tributes

Springfield, who was nominated but not approved for the Hall Of Fame this year, is back home in England battling cancer. Nona Hendryx commented, "(I thought) Because of Dusty's condition at the moment that it would be a wonderful thing to give her the feeling that people cared about her." [600k QuickTime]

People do.

Last fall, Mercury/Chronicles records released a three-CD box set entitled, "The Dusty Springfield Anthology" which includes seventy-seven of the singers hits. Also, Loser's Lounge, a monthly art event in New York City, did a tribute to Springfield by faithfully recreating the song "Dusty In Memphis," among other Springfield classics, with such artists as Jill Sobule, Susan Cowsill, and John Flansburgh from They Might Be Giants in attendence.
