Britney Spears Signs Production Deal For Possible TV Series

Even though Britney Spears is taking a few weeks off to rest and recover from her recent knee surgery, the pop star is keeping busy by mapping out her non-music related plans -- including one for a possible TV series.

The development deal that Spears has inked with Columbia TriStar, according to "Variety," grew out of the offer to appear in a three-episode stint on the WB teen drama "Dawson's Creek," (see "Britney Spears Headed To 'Dawson's Creek'").

In addition to "Dawson's Creek," Columbia TriStar is also responsible for the Fox Network's "Party of Five," but producers say they don't expect to have a Britney Spears series ready for next fall's season launch.

Spears' debut record, "Baby One More Time," is currently nestled at number 3 on the "Billboard" album charts.
