Britney Spears On Sponsor-Scaring Pix: "It's Fine And It's Tasteful"

Racy photos of Britney Spears published in the April 15 issue of "Rolling Stone" magazine appear to have caused quite a stir with a potential tour sponsor.

According to the "New York Post," Nestle is rethinking its secondary sponsorship of the teen queen's upcoming tour. (Her main backer, Tommy Hilfiger, remains locked in.)

Spears' label, Jive Records, denies that talks have ceased and contends that the tour will go on as scheduled, with or without Nestle. A spokesperson for Nestle says that the company was taking a preliminary look at sponsoring the tour and has decided to pursue other avenues.

As for the provocative pix taken by video director and photographer David LaChapelle, the singer insists that they're really no big deal.

cover, and it's like, 'whoa!' But it's okay. I wouldn't do this for any other magazine, but because it is 'Rolling Stone' I think it's fine and it's tasteful." [28.8 RealVideo][/article]

The pop princess' tour is expected to kick off in late June. The itinerary and opening line-up will be announced later this week, but a few scheduled dates have leaked out:

  • 7/7 - New York, NY @ Hammerstein Ballroom
  • 7/26 - Seattle, WA @ Seattle Center Mercer Arena
  • 7/31 - Los Angeles, CA @ Universal Amphitheater
