Britney Spears Lines Up Release Date For New Album

Two months after kicking off her new U.S. tour early next year, Britney Spears will deliver her eagerly awaited second album to stores.

Spears gets her tour rolling on March 8 in Pensacola, Florida, and will then deliver a still-untitled new album to stores on May 16.

As we previously reported, Spears worked on the follow-up to her debut smash "Baby One More Time" in Sweden and Switzerland with producers Max Martin and "Mutt" Lange (see "Britney Spears Works On Next LP In Switzerland, Sweden"). Speaking about the album last month, Spears told MTV News, "Generally, it's still pop music, but I think it's a little bit funkier. It's more 'now,' the music's now. It's really funky. It's really fun, and I'm really excited."
