Soulfly Names New Drummer, Plans Studio Time For New Album

With a new drummer in the fold, Soulfly plans to head to the studio in January to start working on a new album.

Drummer Joe Nunez (formerly with a group called Fleshold) landed the Soulfly gig, aided by a personal recommendation by former Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo.

As we previously reported, Soulfly guitarist-vocalist Max Cavalera revealed the band's new drummer at his daughter's 16th birthday party on November 19 (see "Soulfly Searching For New Drummer, Saluting Snot As Double-CD Arrives").

Nunez now replaces former Soulfly drummer Roy Mayorga who left the band in July.

With a full lineup in place (Cavalera, Nunez, bassist Marcello D. Rapp, and guitarist Mikey Doling), the band now plans to hit the studio in January to begin work on the follow up to its 1998 self-titled debut.
