Snoop Bound For The Big Screen

While Snoop made his first film appearance as himself in the 1995 rap concert flick "The Show," he is set to make his acting debut, albeit a brief one, in the stoner comedy "Half-Baked." In the film, which stars "Saturday Night Live" cast member Jim Breuer and comedian David Chappelle, Snoop has a cameo appearance as "The Scavenger Smoker," and can be spotted in TV ads for the film, which opens January 16.

Next month, Snoop will appear in the hip-hop-heavy road movie "Ride," which until only recently was called "I-95."

As we first reported last September, he's also on the soundtrack album, due at the end of this month, along with Wu-Tang Clan, Onyx, Mack 10, Naughty By Nature, The Roots, and more.

Snoop's music career could be seeing some significant changes as well in the coming months. As first reported on Thursday, Snoop told the "Long Beach Press-Telegram" that he is leaving Death Row Records this year (for the

whole story, see "Snoop Tells Newspaper He's Leaving Death Row" in the MTV News Gallery).
