Smashing Pumpkins To Play Free Minneapolis Show

Smashing Pumpkins fans may want to start making plans to be in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on July 17.

According to the "Minneapolis Star-Tribune," that's where the Pumpkins, whose new record, "Adore," is out on June 2, have agreed to play a free show for the Aquatennial celebration at the Hennepin Avenue Block Party.

The band chose Minneapolis for the concert, which is expected to draw some 100,000 people, because it was the only city that would agree to let them play a free show, so far.

The Pumpkins' appearance won't mark the first time that rock has stopped the traffic in Minneapolis, as the Black Crowes played for 75,000 at another block party in 1996.
