The Smashing Pumpkins have added two shows in Los Angeles to the benefit leg of their upcoming U.S. tour, and will donate ticket sales to the local Five Acres Boys' and Girls' Aid Society.
As previously reported (See "Smashing Pumpkins Announce Dates For Benefit Tour"), the Pumpkins will donate 100% of the ticket price to a local, youth-oriented charity in each city on their tour itinerary. For Los Angeles, the band chose the Five Acres Boys' and Girls' Aid Society, a center for the prevention and treatment of child abuse.
"With this tour and in choosing the Five Acres Boys' and Girls' Aid Society, we believe it is very important not just to lend our name, but also give our money," frontman Billy Corgan said. "The organization has such a positive impact on the Los Angeles community, we wanted to shine the spotlight on their work."
The Los Angeles benefit shows, billed as "An Evening with the Smashing Pumpkins," are
July 1 and 2 at Universal Amphitheatre. Tickets for these two shows go on sale June 27.
