Pumpkins' Corgan To Join Father For Benefit Concert

An unusual father and son reunion will take place Thursday night as Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan and his father, noted session blues guitarist William Corgan, will play two songs together at a Chicago benefit concert.

The sold out show will benefit Neon street, a center for homeless children and is being dubbed "First Waltz," after the Band's legendary 1976 "The Last Waltz" concert.

Papa and son Corgan will jam on two blues tunes and Corgan junior, who rarely performs away from his fellow Pumpkins, is expected back onstage for an ensemble rendition of the Band's "The Weight."

Other performers slated include band bassist Rick Danko, Cheap Trick guitarist Rick Nielsen, the Bodeans, local artist Nicholas Tremulis and gospel diva and "Last Waltz" participant Mavis Staples of the Staple Singers, who were inducted earlier this month into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
